SkirtsAfire Competition started (as so many good concepts do) with pink wine, popcorn, and a few sensible ladies! The pageant was created to deal with the gender inequity that girls artists had been experiencing within the theatre group and bigger multidisciplinary arts communities, from lack of roles for ladies to a disparity inside management positions. SkirtsAfire was constructed to create alternatives for ladies within the arts and to focus on the range of their tales. Together with Worldwide Ladies’s Day, this yr’s 11-day programming options a wide selection of passionate, transformative, and interesting women-led performances, workshops, and displays.
Beginning out on Alberta Avenue, the pageant has grown and advanced over the 12 years it has been working. Since 2012, SkirtsAfire has produced over 182 exhibits, 24 workshops, 24 displays, and given alternatives to over 1455 ladies. Moreover, over 21,860 viewers members have visited the pageant!
